Ice (13/365)

Snowflakes, unite!

ICE

You’re such
a special snowflake,
aren’t you?
Whipped up
by winter gales
into a multitude,
fierce and strong,
driven
into enemy faces,
blinding,
stabbing,
burning,
with a million deadly shards
of ice.

Musings

In the Posthomerica, Quintus of Smyrna described the Greek army at Troy as a bunch of snowflakes in the sense of being uncountable in number and deadly in effect. In those days, a winter storm could kill more troops than an enemy army, and neither side would take the field when the snowflakes held sway.

To this day, snowstorms frequently shut down schools, businesses, and government offices. Snowflakes are deadly serious. Snowflakes deserve respect, and they will just keep coming until their demands are met.
